Bill and Heather Sherrell started out looking for showroom space for The Closet Guy, the storage solutions business they purchased from Brooke and Amy Peterson in 2016. Not only did they find a location to expand their business, the new location at 120 N. Main St. in Chatham will now be home to three additional businesses as well.

“We were looking for a warehouse and ended up finding the building behind the space we’re currently in,” said Heather Sherrell. The property previously housed Chatham Dental Center until Dr. Timothy Lonergan relocated the practice last year.

Now, in addition to showroom space for The Closet Guy, Sherrell is going to have a plant store called Fancy Plants, and two other ladies will have retail spaces in the building. Christy Vaughn owns The Rustic Fence, which sells home décor, signs and textiles. “She has a small shop at her home, but this will be her primary location,” said Sherrell. Miranda Witt owns My Witts End, which up until now has been an online-only store for farmhouse rustic home décor. Smart Spaces by The Closet Guy rounds out the businesses that will be housed under one roof. Sherrell describes it as a collective of female business owners, which they are calling The Coop.

Sherrell, Vaughn and Witt plan to initially staff the location themselves, but hire additional help as the businesses grow. A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
