The All Cat Clinic has new owners and will soon have a new name.
Dr. Dena Nelson opened the feline-only veterinary practice in 1989, which is now located at 700 Corporate Court in Springfield. In a written announcement sent to clients, she said after 32 years of practice, I need to slow down some and take care of my elderly parents.
Dr. Melinda Kilty, who has previously provided coverage for Nelson when she was away from the clinic, has now purchased the practice along with Dr. Erika Eigenbrod. Kilty and Eigenbrod both previously practiced at the Animal Emergency Clinic on Wabash Avenue.
As of April 3, All Cat Clinic will become known as Five Star Veterinary Center.
It wont be your typical vet clinic, its more of an urgent care, said Jackeline Nelson-Rogers, who is the new practice manager. Were not going to be seeing recurring patients.
Nelson-Rogers explained that Five Star Veterinary Center will accommodate clients who need their cats or dogs seen immediately and cant get into their regular veterinary office. With the pandemic, a lot of vets are getting overwhelmed with patients.
Nelson will still practice at the clinic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the time being. Dr. Nelson will be there for about six months to help transition her patients and help them find another established vet, she said.
The clinic will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
This is a brand-new leap for all of us, and were excited to let Springfield know what were all about, Nelson-Rogers said.
