Mike and Shelly Pawelczak, owners of Goodfellas Pub, have opened a new sports bar on Maple Avenue.

Stingers Sports Bar opened Sept. 12 in the former Third Base Sports Bar location at 410 W. Maple Ave., next to Springfield and Jerome.

The Pawelczaks purchased the property in January of 2025 and have been renovating the space into “very much of a neighborhood-sports-bar vibe,” said Lydia Pawelczak, the daughter of Mike and Shelly Pawelczak, who oversees marketing for both Stingers and Goodfellas.

“My dad is constantly looking for new projects, so when they saw this opportunity, they were very excited,” Lydia Pawelczak said.

Live music is not permitted at the 410 W. Maple  location, so the Pawelczaks decided to lean into the sports bar theme, Lydia said, adding that Stingers will feature “a lot of screens,” including a mini jumbotron.

The Pawelczaks have managed Goodfellas, located at 518 N. Bruns Lane, since the summer of 2023 and acquired an ownership stake in that business in July. Mike Pawelczak also owns local home repair company APH Home Improvement. The couple also are the founders of Military Families Together, a local nonprofit that supports veterans and military families.

In addition, Mike Pawelczak is a beekeeper, which was the inspiration for the Stingers name.

Stingers will be open from noon to 2 a.m. daily.
