A new hibachi restaurant is moving into the space formerly occupied by Papa Murphy’s Pizza on Sangamon Avenue.
Hibachi & Wok Cuisine is coming to 1712 E. Sangamon Ave. An opening date has not been determined yet, but the restaurant should be open by the holiday season, according to Alexander Chen, store manager. Chen said the restaurant’s menu will feature Japanese and Chinese cuisine with a hibachi grill.
Chen said the restaurant owners want to “share the richness of Chinese cuisine with our community where people can enjoy exceptional food.” Hibachi & Wok will offer both dine-in and carry-out options.
The Springfield City Council approved Hibachi & Wok’s plans for the 2,306-square-foot space at its Sept. 15 meeting.
The Sangamon Avenue Papa Murphy’s location closed earlier this year. The pizza chain now has just one location in Springfield at 2641 Chatham Road.
