This Saturday, downtown boutique Urban Sassafras is opening a second location at 407 E. Adams Street with merchandise geared towards children. The Kiddos shop, next to Café Moxo and across from Kidzeum, will be open on Saturdays with a possibility for open hours on Sundays once the Kidzeum opens in late July.
Shop owner Cassandra Pence Ostermeier explains that the Kiddos shop will have free interactive art activities for kids of all ages every Saturday during the Farmers Market. We will be able to expand our theme of whimsical childrens décor and creative inspiration for young minds, which is currently showcased in a small portion of the main store, said Ostermeier.
Urban Sassafrass popular Take & Make project kits will be available with an expanded menu for a younger age group. We will have a jewelry station for little girls as well, where they can make their own necklaces right in the shop, says Ostermeier. Eventually, they hope to offer birthday parties and expand their art classes for ages 2-5.
Urban Sassafras will keep their current location at 104 N. Sixth Street that carries fine art and vintage décor. There will still be childrens merchandise in the main store as well, which is open Tuesday Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Kiddos location brings the six-year-old business full circle, as it started at a location at Second and Broadway as a favorite stop for Farmers Market patrons.
