HVAC system manufacturer Trane is establishing offices in Springfield and other central Illinois cities.
Mike Rolfes, Trane's district leader for Springfield, says the move represents a change from independent agents to company-owned offices and parts centers.
Trane, one of a handful of brands owned by parent company Ingersoll Rand, has long offered service in Springfield and surrounding areas, but the move to establish offices here means the company will now directly hire local engineers, specialists and technicians to hand commercial applications. Rolfes says Trane hasn't set employment goals yet.
Allied Plumbing and Heating is the licensed residential dealer for Trane in Springfield and will not be affected by Trane's new commercial operations in the Springfield area. Besides Springfield, Trane will have offices in Peoria and Champaign-Urbana.
