The Springfield Planning and Zoning Commission is slated to consider a zoning reclassification for 101 W. North Grand Ave. to allow for new signage directing visitors to Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The request by Cooney Clan LLC and Oak Ridge Cemetery Foundation would allow new signage directing people to the cemetery, Lincoln's Tomb and the African American History Museum. The current S-1 zoning doesn't allow for off-premise advertising. If approved, the property would be zoned B-1.
The commission will also consider a rezoning request from Todd Eddington, owner of 1409 S. Fifth St., to allow continued operation of a tattoo parlor.
The City of Springfield is petitioning the zoning commission for reclassification of 9 Club Area, owned by FOP Lake Lodge Inc, to allow the property to be used for a multi-use facility that provides education, research and public engagement opportunities for the University of Illinois Springfield.
The commission meets Aug. 16 at 6 p.m.
