On Monday April 23, the Sangamon CEO program will host its annual Shark Tank-style event “CEO vs. Sharks.”  Forty-eight Sangamon CEO participants -- local high school seniors interested in entrepreneurship -- have teamed up to pitch their business ideas to local investors and entrepreneurs at the BOS Center in downtown Springfield.

Fans of the TV show Shark Tank will find the “CEO vs. Sharks” format familiar: each team has 5 minutes to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges who will each provide feedback and score teams on the viability and creativity of their business concept as well as the quality of their presentation. Teams will compete for first, second, and people’s choice prizes. Proceeds from the event help the Sangamon CEO program fund future student activities and classrooms.

Sangamon CEO will host “CEO vs.; Sharks” on Monday, April 23, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the BOS Center. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and soft drinks will be served.  The event is open to the public and tickets are available for $50 for general admission or $20 for student admission.

In addition, this year the Sangamon CEO will also host a 'Startup & Innovation Expo' at the BOS center on the same day. The expo will start at 11 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. on Monday April 23. It is open to the public, no ticket purchase is necessary to attend the expo.
