The Accidental Speechwriter

Speechwriting is one of those responsibilities most communication professionals fall into rather than train for. John Patterson joins Mid-Illinois Communications Association for a program where he’ll share tips and tricks designed to ease stress and, hopefully, make speechwriting fun. Patterson will also lead a special dessert session on real-world, responsible use of artificial intelligence: "Should I use AI to write a speech? No. But it's going to happen anyway, so let's figure out how to do it right." Patterson is a seasoned communications professional with nearly three decades of experience in government and media. Currently serving as the Spokesman and Strategic Media Adviser for the Illinois Senate President, he leads media relations and advises on executive communications for the Senate Democratic Caucus.
