Sengla “Pi” Boualavong has joined United Community Bank as chief credit officer. He has more than 25 years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting and risk management.
In his role, Boualavong oversees the bank’s credit administration and loan review processes across the organization. He joins UCB with extensive experience in credit and risk management. He most recently served as risk rated underwriting manager at U.S. Bank. Prior to that, Boualavong served as chief credit officer with Illini Bank prior to its acquisition by UCB in 2016.

Boualavong is a graduate of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor of science in business. He also holds a credit risk certification from the American Bankers Association.
Originally from Laos, Boualavong immigrated to Quincy, Illinois, where he was raised. He later lived in both Chicago and Los Angeles before making Chatham his home. A dedicated athlete, he remains actively involved in the Chatham and Springfield communities. Boualavong and his wife, Laura, have three children: Emma, 17; Lucas, 15; and Jacob, 11. They enjoy supporting their children’s sports and extracurricular activities.
