Real estate investment office opens

Matthew Davlin and Dan Moja have opened a real estate investment office, TBFS Investments, at 310 South Grand Avenue West in Springfield.

“We consider ourselves a boutique real estate investing firm,” explained Davlin. “Almost all of our investing is in the Chicago area for right now, we specialize in Airbnb properties. We have about 20 different properties and there is a group of investors for each property. Each time we find one that we think is going to be a good fit, we’ll broker the sale and then manage it.”

Up until recently, Davlin worked for Air National Guard while Moja was part of an affordable housing company. Both recently quit their jobs to focus on TBFS Investments full time.

“We’re going to focus more on traditional investments in Springfield,” said Davlin, explaining that the local market is not necessarily a good fit for as many Airbnb investments as the Chicago area. “We both have our broker’s license and have active listings in Chicago, so we’re looking to break into the Springfield market as well.”

Davlin said they are working with the brokerage firm Worthclerk, which currently has a presence in the Chicago and St. Louis markets. “We’re looking for both investors and management deals,” he said.
