An iconic Springfield restaurant is for sale, but the owner says
she has no plans to close before a new owner takes over.
Gabatoni’s was founded by Johnny and Rosemary Lynn in 1951 and originally
operated out of a building at Third and Washington streets. In 1959, the
family-owned business moved to its current location at 300 E. Laurel St. Their
daughter, Rosalie Beck, has now been operating the pizzeria for several decades.
Beck said she’s “now decided to retire and sell Gabatoni’s in hopes of finding someone to carry on its rich tradition and award-winning food.” In a written statement provided to SBJ, she said, “Gabatoni’s will continue to operate as normal until a buyer is found. The business is not closing.”
The business and real estate are being co-brokered by Dan Sperry with the Real Estate Group and Todd Smith with Todd Smith Commercial Real Estate. The asking price of $895,000 includes the 2,048-square-foot building, furniture, fixtures and equipment in addition to all business assets and the secret recipes for all menu items.
Gabatoni’s ceased dine-in service in 2020 and currently offers
carry out and delivery six days a week.
