The moving company Two Men and a Truck is preparing to relocate its headquarters to a larger west-side property that will allow for significant expansion.
“It gives us an opportunity to expand our services, as well as more room for office space for our staff and more parking for trucks,” said business development manager Travis Blarney.
Two Men and a Truck has had a Springfield office since 2014, and the company moved into the former Chase Bank branch on North Grand Avenue in 2019. That property, also known at 1128-1152 N. Rutledge St., is now listed for sale with Blake Pryor of Coldwell Banker Commercial Devonshire Realty at an asking price of $225,000.
Dan and Renee Shunk own the Two Men and a Truck franchise for central Illinois and operate locations in Champaign and Bloomington, in addition to Springfield.
Earlier this month, Shunk Holdings LLC purchased the property at 3000 Hamlin Parkway for $800,000, according to Sangamon County tax records. The nearly 10,000-square-foot building most recently housed EJ Welch, a flooring distributor that closed its Springfield branch.
Blarney said renovations will get underway soon.
“We’ll pave part of the additional area to have more parking space for our trucks,” he said. “It’s also a good spot for our Two Men and a Junk Truck (hauling) business.”
Blarney said the company will also start offering storage space, since clients may need to move out of their home or apartment before their new residence is ready, or want to store items while renovations are underway.
While the new location is not slated to be fully operational until early to mid-spring, Blarney said the hope is to have parts of it, such as the storage space, functional before then.
“We’re going to be in growth mode pretty quickly,” he said. “This will allow us to serve our customers in a better way.”
