Gordon and Laura Davis founded Whimsy Tea Company in 2019 by setting up shop at the Old Capitol Farmers Market. In October 2020, the couple opened a brick-and-mortar store on Adams Street, and less than a year later moved to a larger location just down the block.
“My family loves tea. And we loved Teavana,” Gordon said. “When they were bought out by Starbucks, my wife told me that we should look into our own company.”
Whimsy Tea Company was founded with the purpose to provide the highest-quality teas, herbal infusions and tea-infused products to everyone with the utmost convenience.
“We source 900-plus ingredients from 149 different countries,” Gordon said.
Following the Adams Street fire in July 2024, Whimsy Tea began offering soups and sandwiches to help meet the demand for lunch options downtown.
The business also recently launched a line of wholistic wellness blends. These are small-batch teas with an emphasis on quality and freshness with sustainably-sourced, organic and fair-trade certified ingredients.
“At Whimsy Tea Company, we believe that tea is not just a beverage, it’s a lifestyle. It offers us an opportunity to calm our minds and spirits while nourishing our bodies,” Davis said. “We give our customers access to high-quality, fair-trade teas and an entire range of health and beauty products featuring the absolute best the botanical world has to offer.”
