The location of the former Loukinens’ on 4th restaurant is set to go on the auction block at a foreclosure sale.
The property at 517 S. Fourth St., across the street from the Executive Mansion, entered into foreclosure on Feb. 25, according to a public notice. The judgment amount is listed as $182,828. According to Sangamon County tax records, the property was purchased in February 2017 for $150,000 by KALL Restaurants, an LLC controlled by Keith and Laurie Loukinen, who owned and operated the restaurant.
The property will be sold to the highest bidder in an in-person auction starting at 1 p.m. on April 6 at the offices of Do Realty Services at 600 S. Sixth St.
Loukinens’ restaurant closed in May. At the time, co-owner and chef Keith Loukinen cited the changes in the dynamics of downtown Springfield and the rising cost of doing business as the causes for the restaurants’ closing.
The property had been listed for sale off and on since March 2023, most recently with an asking price of $699,000. The 9,000-square-foot building includes a chef’s kitchen, a main dining area that seats 118, and a lower-level party room with an occupancy of 125. Loukinens’ had invested more than $1 million into property improvements and renovations, according to the real estate listing.
Last month, Loukinen joined the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield Hotel, which is a Hilton hotel, as director of food and beverage. Loukinen previously served as a director of food and beverage with Hilton Hotels before moving to Springfield in 2009.
Loukinen opened Loukinens’ on 4th in 2017. The restaurant previously faced foreclosure in December 2023, when the Chicago-based law firm of Noonan & Lieberman Ltd. filed for foreclosure against the property on behalf of Community Loan Servicing. The restaurant closed suddenly in February 2024 but reopened the following month.

Nice restaurant but expensive. How many times has the old Mansion View been sold?
I ate at Loukinen’s many times with friends. We always enjoyed our meals. I am sad for the owners and will miss the restaurant. Maybe the governor should have spent a little time there.
