Camille Moorman has launched Nourish, a food truck that sources local ingredients.

A young entrepreneur launched a new food truck in November that serves the Springfield area.

Nourish is the brainchild of 17-year-old Camille Moorman, who said she uses family recipes for the menu. Moorman described her grandmother as a “huge inspiration” who mentored her.

“I have three main items each time I open; I like to change them up and pair them to the event,” Moorman said. She said a recent event focused on martini-themed items, including a loaded mashed potato dish served in a martini glass and another featuring macaroni and cheese.

Other offerings have included avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, homemade sourdough bagels and bread, Italian and chicken bacon ranch sandwiches and smoothie bowls. Drinks include sparklers – carbonated, flavored beverages – plus a variety of coffees and lattes.

Moorman, who is homeschooled, said she got the idea for the business from a friend who had remodeled a camper into a food truck. She also had previous retail and food service experience from working at a pumpkin patch, snow cone stand and pizza restaurant.

“I really enjoyed working in food service, and I love cooking and baking,” Moorman said. “My dad is a health inspector for the state, so he was able to help me out with a lot of things. We spent about two years working on the food truck at our own pace.”

Moorman said it is important to her to source local ingredients for her menu items.

“We focus on food with ingredients that you can be confident in, not fried things like food trucks usually have,” she said.

The Nourish food truck has already made appearances at several community events, including a Black Friday event at Wild Thrift & Sniff and Caroling at the Carillon in Washington Park this past weekend. Moorman said the truck is also available for private events.
