Terry Wilson has been in the clothing business
for more than four decades, and soon he will fulfill his dream of owning his
own store with the opening of Wilson Haberdashery on the west side of
Springfield.
“I’m 58 years old and I’ve been in the clothing industry
for 42 years, pretty much my whole life,” Wilson said. “I was with Bachrach,
then managed a Jos. E. Bank franchise for 23 years and spent some time at Jim Herron.
But I’ve always had aspirations to have my own shop.”
Wilson Haberdashery is slated to open Nov. 1 at 3001 W. White Oaks Dr. in one of the spaces most recently occupied by Eye Candy Boutique.
“It will be a full-service men’s store, but notupper-end,” Wilson said. Wilson Haberdashery will offer suits, sports coats, shirts, ties and cuff links, plus denim, twill trousers, sweaters, outerwear, shoes and belts. “Pretty much anything a guy could want, I’ll have it,” he said.
While he will offer clothing for all occasions,
Wilson said he anticipates a significant amount of wedding business. “Young
people aren’t renting tuxes because of the prices; you can buy a suit package
for the same price as a tux rental,” he said.
Wilson said he will be open by appointment only
on Sunday, primarily for wedding consultations. Regular hours of operation will
be Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
