Five Below has announced a second store in Springfield and a new location in Jacksonville as part of the company’s aggressive expansion plans.
Citing “momentum” from 2022 holiday sales, Five Below announced plans earlier this
year to open more than 200 new stores in fiscal 2023.
The retailer targets teens and tweens
with merchandise that is generally priced at $5 or less.
Five Below first came to Springfield a
decade ago with the opening of a store in White Oaks Plaza in 2013. Now, a “coming soon” sign touting a fall 2023 opening has appeared in the former Gallina Pizza space in the Capital City Shopping Center. Similar signage is on display at the former Sears Hometown Store
space in the Lincoln Square Shopping Center in Jacksonville.
The company, headquartered in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was founded in 2002 and
now has more than 1,300 stores in 42 states. Representatives of Five Below did
not respond to interview requests.
