Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) today announced that Dr. Raymond Gensinger has accepted an invitation to serve as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS). Dr. Gensinger will begin his services with HSHS on August 18. He succeeds William Montgomery, who retired as CIO on July 11.
In his position, Dr. Gensinger will lead the System’s Information Technology initiatives and ensure that its IT infrastructure helps improve the delivery, quality and safety of care for HSHS patients. Dr. Gensinger has more than 20 years of experience implementing high quality, highly-integrated IT delivery systems utilizing leading edge technology. Since 2007, he has served as Chief Medical Information Officer at Fairview Health Services, an integrated health system with 7 hospitals and 2,300 aligned physicians based in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Gensinger has held several academic positions at the University of Minnesota, serving as Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Affiliate Faculty for the School of Nursing, and Faculty for the university’s Institute for Health Informatics.
Dr. Gensinger received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University and his Medical Degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He was an internal medicine resident based out of St. John’s Hospital and joined SIU where he served as Chief Resident of Internal Medicine and assistant professor of medicine and informatics. Dr. Gensinger has authored or presented on over 50 different healthcare information systems related topics and received the 2006 “Healthcare Informatics Innovator” award from Modern Healthcare. He is Past President for the Minnesota Chapter of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society
