A new sign has appeared at the site of the former Millions Crab Boiled Seafood location touting Dynasty Korean Steakhouse & Bar coming soon.
Millions Crab, a Cajun seafood chain based in Ohio, opened in the former TFI Fridays space at 2100 W. White Oaks Dr. on April 1, 2021, and closed later that same year on Dec. 6. The brand had been expanding aggressively throughout the Midwest with as many as 13 locations at one point. The companys website now lists two restaurants in Ohio, plus one each in Indiana and Wisconsin, and lists a site on Michigan Avenue in Chicago as opening soon. The founders of Millions Crab also created the Juicy Seafood and Naked Crab franchises.
The real estate at 2100 W. White Oaks Dr. is owned by an out-of-state investment company. According to Sangamon County records, Xing Fu Ga, LLC purchased the property in September 2019 for $2,365,000. TGI Fridays was still leasing the building at the time, but closed in March 2020 during the statewide stay-at-home order and never reopened.
Commi Tong, the marketing director for Millions Crab, told SBJ in December that the building owner had plans for another type of restaurant. It is not clear whether the Millions Crab management would also be involved in the new concept, and neither Tong nor the building owner could be reached for comment.
