Former Augie’s Front Burner now a homestyle family restaurant

The former Augie’s Front Burner space downtown is now a new homestyle family restaurant. Maryflor – pronounced “My-floor” – will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is the first restaurant venture for owners Flora and Marco Alonzo.

Augie’s Front Burner closed in June 2020 after more than two decades of operations at 2 W. Old State Capitol Plaza. Owner Augie Mrozowski told Illinois Times in an interview shortly after his retirement that the pandemic had given him time to reflect, and after more than 50 years in the restaurant business, he was ready for a break.

The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m.-2 p.m. for both dine-in and takeout.
