Heidi Clark has already been a business owner for more than a decade, but now she wants to bring a new concept to Springfield.
Shes started the build out for Wellthy Juice Co, which will be located in The Gables. I was going to open a juice bar next to the salon, and that didnt pan out, Clark said of her initial idea.
Clark opened The Rage Hair Studio in 2010 and later rebranded to Clark & Co. Beauty Lab, relocating to a larger space across the street at 3231 W. Iles Ave.
Now shes working with Christin Levi, owner of the vintage luxury boutique Again & Again, to take on 1,500 of the 4,000-square-foot space that Levi moved into last June.
While smoothies and fruit drinks are commonplace, Clark said Wellthy Juice will offer something different.
We take fruits and vegetables and put them in a hydraulic machine to produce this amazing juice with no added sugars or anything else. You get all of the good stuff without taking in sugar and all of the processed stuff that normally comes from juices, she said. This isnt like the juice you would buy off the shelf in the grocery store thats been pasteurized and isnt fresh.
Clark said Wellthy Juice follows the food as medicine approach and the juices can be used for cleanses or meal replacements. Theres not a cold-pressed juice store in Springfield; Edwardsville or Joliet are the closest ones.
Wellthy Juice will also offer superfood smoothies, acai bowls, energy bites and local baked goods. In addition, TUNE sessions will be offered in a private treatment room. Advocates claim a 15-minute session in a TUNEbed produces brain balance, helps the nervous system recover and causes the body to give off positive hormones.
Clark said she's obtained a building permit to begin renovating the space and hopes to be open by the end of June.
