Taco John's coming to Sangamon County

Taco John’s is coming to Sangamon County, with a location currently under construction in Riverton. The quick-service restaurant will occupy 2000 square feet in the Riverton Travel America truck stop complex at the Overpass Road exit on I-72, just east of Springfield.

“This is our first Taco John’s project, so we are very excited to spearhead this new development in Riverton,” said franchise owner Sonny Ghotra. “We’ve secured a prime location in the new multi-purpose Riverton Travel America truck stop, so we expect it to be a popular, quick spot for hungry drivers passing by.”

Taco John’s began with a single taco stand in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 1968 and has now expanded to nearly 400 restaurants in 22 states. There are 12 in Illinois, including Jacksonville, Peoria, Bloomington and Champaign.

The company is currently seeking to hire 45 employees. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply at careers.tacojohns.com.

A grand opening is planned for Tuesday, Sept. 6.
