Phoenix Center opens a new resource center, Out East, on South Dirksen

Phoenix Center has opened a new resource center, testing facility and event space.

The new location, Out East, is located at 704 South Dirksen Parkway. Some of the services available include harm reduction, HIV/HCV/STD testing, referrals, Narcan distribution, support groups and LGBTQ+ specific information such as health navigation. Services are available Monday-Thursday from 2-8 p.m., Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“There are too many barriers to services, and we are working to make sure that everyone has access to all that Phoenix Center has to offer," said Jonna Cooly, executive director of Phoenix Center.  "Our services are available at three locations in Springfield, a site in Quincy, a site in Litchfield and via mobile and street outreach in Sangamon and 14 other counties in central Illinois.”

The grand opening for Out East is scheduled for Thursday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a ribbon cutting taking place at 1 p.m. The public is invited to tour the new facility, meet the staff and learn about the services that will be provided.
