Kay Jewelers will be closing its store in White Oaks Mall to move to a new location just across Veterans Parkway in White Oaks Plaza.

The new Kay Jewelers will open April 29 in the space at 2851 S. Veterans Parkway formerly occupied by Sally Beauty Supply. The mall location will close at the end of April, according to an associate at the store.

Kay is investing more than $820,000 to build out the new 2,300-square-foot location, according to a building permit filed with the city of Springfield. RE Crawford Construction is the general contractor on the job, and GPD Group Inc. is the architect.

The two retail locations on either side of Kay’s new store in White Oaks Plaza remain vacant, as well as the former Big Lots location. In total, 53,187 square feet of space is available for lease in the 320,933-square-foot shopping plaza, according to leasing information from the R.H. Johnson Co. Most of the vacant space is the 45,000-square-foot former Big Lots store.

Kansas City-based R.H. Johnson purchased White Oaks Plaza last year for nearly $50 million. Anchor tenants include Kohl’s and Harvest Market.

Kay Jewelers operates more than 1,000 stores nationwide, including 36 in Illinois. The jewelry retailer is part of Signet Jewelers, whose brands also include Zales and Jared Jewelers. Signet reported fiscal 2026 sales of $6.8 billion, up 1.6 percent from the prior year. Kay accounted for 38% of the company’s 2026 sales, according to Signet’s annual report.

Requests for comment to both Kay Jewelers and Signet were not returned. Calls to White Oaks Mall management also were not returned.
