MJ’s
Fish & Chicken Express is opening on Fridays during the Lenten season,
starting Friday, Feb. 16, offering a limited menu. Customers will be able to
dine-in or carry out from MJ’s, 716 E. Enos, from 4-9 p.m. on Fridays through March
22.
MJ’s
will offer a catfish lunch ($12), catfish dinner ($16), walleye lunch ($10) or
walleye dinner ($14). All meals include fries and coleslaw, but the dinners are
larger portions of fish.
MJ’s Fish & Chicken Express started as a food truck in August 2015, but the
business grew quickly and owners Jerome and Margaret Taylor moved to rented
space at 230 South Grand Ave. East. In 2017, they purchased the current
building in Enos Park, which was a turn-key operation from the previous
occupant, Susie Q’s restaurant.
In
June 2022, MJ’s shifted its business model to focus on catering and special
events, which Jerome Taylor said was largely due to staffing issues and needing
more flexibility for his family.
