Maureen Faller has joined the law firm of Brown, Hay & Stephens. She focuses her practice on trusts and estate planning, fiduciary representation in trust and estate administration, banking, real estate, commercial transactions, employment law and the rights of minors as a guardian ad litem.

Prior to joining Brown, Hay & Stephens, Faller served as in-house counsel for Prairie State Bank and Trust in Springfield for over a decade. In addition to her legal counsel role, Faller served as the bank’s trust officer, where she administered trusts and estates and drafted estate planning documents that protected client assets and provided tax-efficient strategies for wealth transfer.

Faller is also a licensed mediator with substantial experience helping parties resolve disputes outside of litigation.

"I wanted to grow as an attorney," Faller said of her decision to leave banking to join a private law practice. "I felt that Brown Hay fit with my practice experience but also fit with how I wanted to grow."

Faller noted that she enjoys being able to collaborate with the other attorneys at the firm. "They have the expertise here... Hugh Drake is one of the experts in the field of estate planning," she said. "Brown Hay has a culture where they help educate new lawyers. I enjoy being able to help with the mentorship program and work with the next generation of attorneys."

Faller is a member of the Central Illinois Women’s Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

She currently serves as president of the board of directors for Sojourn Shelter & Services, Inc., and as a pro bono attorney for both Sojourn and Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, Inc. She also teaches yoga at Ahh Yoga, Inc. in Springfield.

Faller graduated from Indiana University and completed her juris doctorate at Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale. She was previously named one of Springfield Business Journal's Forty Under 40 in 2023.
