The owners of the Lumpia House restaurant and food truck are opening a new restaurant with a menu designed around the Filipino grilled chicken dish known as inasal.

Mcinasal Filipino Grilled Chicken will be opening in the first or second week of June at 1501 Wabash Ave., according to Rolando Cabral, who owns both Lumpia House and Mcinasal along with his wife, Myrna Balabag.

Mcinasal will feature the Filipino chicken inasal but in what Cabral describes as more modern, Western deliveries, such as sandwiches, wraps, salads and bowls.

“The grilled chicken (at Lumpia House) became popular, so we decided to spin it off into a separate restaurant,” Cabral said. Mcinasal’s menu also will offer a variety of sides, ranging from Filipino dishes such as coconut garlic rice to American staples such as French fries.

Cabral and Balabag launched the Lumpia food truck in September 2024, then opened the Lumpia House brick-and-mortar location at 1731 South MacArthur Blvd. in February 2025.

Cabral said they always planned to scale up the business and add other locations. Initially, they were looking for a partner to open a Lumpia House franchise in the Peoria area, but when the space at 1501 Wabash Ave., which previously housed the Yummi Yummi Quick Way restaurant, became available, they decided to pivot and move forward with a new concept.

“It’s a good space,” Cabral said. “We’re lucky we got that spot.”

Cabral said business has been steady at both Lumpia’s food truck and restaurant since their openings.

“For restaurants to be successful in the first year, it is an achievement already,” Cabral said. “We are very grateful to the community for supporting us.”

Mcinasal will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.
