After more than 30 years in the same Fifth Street location, Dr. Terry Killian is relocating his psychiatric and counseling practice to a new home.
Killian and Associates SC will be moving south from 1020 South Fifth St. to 3901 Pintail Drive. The practice hopes to be in the new location by the end of May, according to Becky Killian, Terry’s Killian’s wife and office manager for the practice.
Killian opened his solo practice in a suite in the South Fifth building in 1995 and slowly grew his practice to take over the whole building. In addition to Dr. Killian, Killian and Associates now includes six counselors, two psychiatric nurse practitioners and a behavior analyst, all of whom will be making the move to the new location.
Killian and Associates has been leasing the space on Fifth Street for the past three decades and decided they wanted to own their own building. They began looking for a new space more than a year ago, Becky Killian said.
At just over 4,000 square feet, the new location will be slightly smaller than the current location. “We have a lot of wasted space here,” Becky Killian said.
Renovation work currently is underway to make the new space, which includes two suites that previously housed two separate businesses, feel as welcoming as the practice’s current home, Becky Killian said.
“We are going to replicate the feel that we have here,” she said. “We are looking to make it more homey and less clinical looking because we want everyone to feel at ease.”
The 3901 Pintail building sold in March for $415,000, according to Sangamon County tax records.
The new location will be closer to many of the practice’s providers, Becky Killian said.
“The location is perfect,” she said. “We are all very excited, and our patients are excited.”
