Doug Gholson has joined Edwards Group, a Springfield law firm specializing in elder care and estate planning, as chief operating officer.
Gholson has a versatile background that spans business coaching, collegiate-level leadership, the contractor industry and marketing. He most recently served as vice president of marketing for Capitol Group, Inc. and prior to that was general manager of MB Heating & Cooling, both based in Springfield.
Born in southern Illinois, Gholson has called Springfield home since 1989. He holds a bachelor of business degree with a minor in marketing from Robert Morris University.
Gholson said what drew him to Edwards Group, 3223 Meadowbrook Road, was the firm’s genuine commitment to its clients – the kind of careful, compassionate service that’s hard to find.
“That combination of integrity and real attention to detail made joining the team an easy decision,” he said.
Gholson was previously recognized as one of Springfield Business Journal’s Forty Under 40.
Outside of work, Gholson is a founding member of the band Mr. Oppornknockity and has received several national awards, been deputized by the Secret Service and driven in a presidential motorcade. He and his wife, Kaylee, have two children, Kasandra and Kaden, and a dog named Dax. The family enjoys sports, music and travel.
