Hank’s Power & Equipment has closed its Springfield location and the property owner has listed the buildings for sale.
Springfield Mowers & Power Equipment occupied the buildings at 1808 W. Jefferson St. from 2019 until October 2021 when a fire at the business killed the owner, Robert Kalabus. His widow, Stephanie Kalabus, told SBJ at the time she was selling the business to John Hank, owner of Hank’s Power & Equipment.
Susan, who identified herself as the office manager for Hank’s Power & Equipment, told SBJ that the Springfield location closed Aug. 30 “due to staffing issues,” but that the Aledo headquarters would remain open. Stephanie Kalabus declined to comment.
Vieweg Real Estate, a commercial real estate company based in Decatur, has the property listed for $425,000. The 1.1-acre site is zoned B-2 and includes two buildings totaling 15,500 square feet. Broker associate AJ Speasl told SBJ that property could also be available for lease.
