Burgess & Son, a plumbing and HVAC company based out of Girard, has merged with MB Heating & Cooling in Springfield.
“We’ve known Shawn (Burgess) for a long time, and we know he runs an incredible company,” said Doug Gholson, general manager of MB Heating & Cooling, 1555 W. Jefferson St. “He was getting to a point that it was a little overwhelming for him. We’re looking to expand, and he was at his max as far as what he could do. We looked at the market and felt like it was a great fit,” he said.
Gholson noted that since MB Heating & Cooling offers electrical and solar work in addition to plumbing and HVAC, “It will expand what we can do for the Burgess customers, and Shawn liked the idea of being able to provide more services.”
Shawn Burgess will become the training supervisor for MB Heating & Cooling, while his daughter, Haylee, who was also part of the family business, will serve as the plumbing coordinator. The other employees will continue in their current roles.
"We’re keeping that building open,” said Gholson, referring to the former Burgess & Son headquarters at 702 N. Third St. in Girard. “They’re basically just becoming part of our team.”
