2 Wingz to reopen as Pita or Bowl with Mediterranean menu

2 Wingz opened in 2020 but owner Mohammed Zeid says the pandemic has already caused him to rethink his business model. “The pandemic forced us to think outside the box about ways we can remain in business as food costs soared,” he explained in an Oct. 14 post on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “Coming from a Middle Eastern background, we decided to introduce homemade recipes to the menu. To our amazement, we saw a demand for it in the area and it grew little by little. We are now at the point where we want to go full scale with our Mediterranean options and flip the restaurant to a unique Middle Eastern cuisine.”

After receiving positive feedback from some initial Mediterranean offerings, the restaurant at 848 South Grand Ave. East will reopen on Friday, Nov. 5 as Pita or Bowl. As the name implies, customers choose a pita or bowl (small, medium or big) as the base and add various proteins, toppings and sauces.

“We’ll no longer offer American menu items, but we’ve gotten a lot of good feedback already on the change,” said manager Cindy Perry. “A lot of customers have come in after seeing it on Facebook. It’s a new thing for Springfield.”

Pita or Bowl will be open 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. A ribbon cutting is planned for 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5.
