Local anesthesiologist Dr. Qing Yang has opened the Eocene Medical Spa on West Monroe Avenue, with a goal of providing holistic care.
Eocene offers skin rejuvenation services — such as laser resurfacing, microneedling, chemical peels and medical facials — as well as wellness offerings such as medically directed weight loss and IV hydration and nutrition along with functional medicine and wellness coaching.
“We can take care of our patients inside and out,” Yang said. “We can help them be the best versions of themselves.”
A graduate of the Yale School of Medicine, Yang completed her residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and served as an instructor at Harvard Medical School. She came to Springfield to join the anesthesia department at HSHS St. John’s Hospital.
As an anesthesiologist, she often sees patients at their most vulnerable as they head into surgery. She said she wanted to open Eocene to provide a different kind of care.
“I want to see my patients when they are not experiencing a crisis in their life,” Yang said. “I see a variety of patients with different conditions, and one of the things I really started to feel is that everyone can benefit from a little bit of pampering and a little bit of self-care.”
Yang serves as the medical director at Eocene, which she said will allow the spa to offer clinically oriented care. The staff also includes two nurses and an esthetician. The medical spa, located at 2341 W. Monroe St., is just over 2,000 square feet, with six treatment rooms and a gathering space at the back of the spa, which Yang hopes to use for patient seminars and training events.
Eocene is open seven days a week, with walk-in hours from noon to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on weekends. Appointments are available from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
