Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is remodeling its three Springfield locations and has already completed some of the work.
The company obtained a building permit on May 15 from the City of Springfield to update the store at 2760 N. Dirksen Parkway. Wal-Mart previously obtained a building permit in April for its store at 1100 LeJune Drive and has already completed work on the store at 3401 Freedom Drive.
The permits for the Dirksen and LeJune locations describe a grocery pickup, likely referring to the retail giant's move into curbside grocery pickup. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. did not respond to a request for comment. The contractor on both jobs is Powerhouse Retail Services, based in Crowley, Texas. Both jobs have a valuation of $116,00.
The Wal-Mart at 3401 Freedom Drive underwent a remodel and roof repair earlier this year. The contractor for that job, valued at $800,000, was Space Age Construction.
