Wingstop has a second Springfield location in the works, this time on the north end.

A building permit has been filed with the city of Springfield for a tenant build out at 2724 N. Dirksen Parkway. There is a vacant 1,525-square-foot suite in the shopping center in front of Wal-Mart that includes Starbucks, Great Clips and T-Mobile.

Father and son franchise operators Salil and Sahil Contractor brought Wingstop to Springfield in 2017. The existing location at 1665 Wabash Ave., in a Jerome strip center, closed following a fire in 2021 but reopened in 2023.

The chain got its start in Garland, Texas, in 1994 and now has more than 2,000 locations worldwide. A Wingstop spokesperson said the second Springfield location is slated to open in the first quarter of 2025.
