The Pharmacy Gallery & Art Space will soon be located downtown in the former Staley building at 623 East Adams. In November, The Pharmacy will relocate from its current space at 711 S. Fifth St., where the art gallery has been housed for the past four years.
President Janet Sgro said the new space is about three times larger than the current location and will allow for additional artists and programming. Were looking forward to offering studio space for more artists. Its going to be a community space as well, so thats a really exciting part. We want to start doing open studios one Saturday a month where the public will be able to stop by and see the artists at work.
Sgro said The Pharmacy is also looking forward to being a part of the many activities downtown. Were going to be participating in the holiday walks, she said. Our first big show will be on Dec. 7-8, which will serve as our soft opening, and then well have our official opening after the first of the year.
A co-op art collective and nonprofit organization established in 2011, The Pharmacy currently consists of 20 members. It cultivates and celebrates expressions of multidimensional artists as it strives to be a catalyst for advancing, discovering and connecting through contemporary art, and it enriches the community through innovative cultural events.
