Springfield Reprographics acquires Laser Innovations

Springfield Reprographics has acquired Laser Innovations as part of the company’s expansion of services.

“This new purchase adds to what we are already doing in that line of business, plus one more item,” said Steve Wakefield, owner of Springfield Reprographics. He noted that both companies sell toners for office printers, but Laser Innovations also maintains and repairs laser printers. “This just adds a little bit more to the mix.”

Rick Smith had operated Laser Innovations since 1989, most recently from a location at 2276 North Grand Avenue East. “He was looking to retire, so we struck a deal that worked for both of us,” Wakefield said.

Wakefield said two of the employees stayed with the company, which now operates out of Springfield Reprographics’ location at 1620 S. Fifth St.

Springfield Reprographics was founded in 1920 and originally focused on producing blueprints for architects, engineers and general contractors. The company has evolved to include all types of commercial printing, vehicle wraps, indoor and outdoor signage and more.

In August 2022, Springfield Reprographics purchased PSC Digital, formerly known as Photographic Service Corporation. The company had previously acquired Laser Printer Service, based in Athens.

Wakefield said that so far there has been enough room to expand the business at its current location. “We have acquired the adjacent vacant lots, so down the road we might have to look at adding on to our building if we keep growing, but that’s just coffee table talk for now.”
