The law firm of Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen
has relocated, but the company didn’t go far. “We just moved right down the
street,” said Theresa Powell, who serves as the managing partner for the
Springfield office.
The firm had operated out of 3731 W. Wabash Ave.
since November 2012, a large glass office building that originally housed
Morgan Stanley. As of May 20, Heyl Royster has moved to 4205 W. Wabash Ave.,
which has been vacant since Coldwell Banker Springfield closed in March 2023.

The move was due to a combination of factors,
Powell said. “The lease agreement was up and there were issues with the
building that weren’t getting resolved. Rather than continue to fight with the
landlord, we found a different location.”
Despite the move to a smaller office, Powell said
there has not been a reduction in staff. “We still have the same number of
people – nine attorneys in the Springfield office, plus the support staff,” she
said. She noted that the previous building “had a huge open area in the center
that wasn’t being used.”
The law firm, headquartered in Peoria, also has
offices in Champaign, Edwardsville, Rockford, Chicago and St. Louis.
The building at 3731 W. Wabash Ave. has now been
sold to Grand Lodge of Illinois A.F. & A.M., who plans to use it as a statewide
headquarters for freemasons.
