Indian food is once again being offered at 3114 S. Sixth St., but the restaurant has a new name and new owners.
Jaalsa, Hindi
for “let’s celebrate,” has opened in the space most recently
occupied by Indian Cuisine,
which briefly operated a buffet in 2022. Jaalsa is owned by Secove
Investments, which was not involved in the previous Indian
restaurant, but does operate Flavor of India on Montvale Drive, along with Toasty
Subs on MacArthur Boulevard.
However, Navee Singh, CEO of Secove Investments, said Jaalsa will not duplicate Flavor of India.
“We serve alcohol and have more of a bar vibe,” Singh said, noting that Jaalsa will have Bollywood events with DJs and dancing. A Halloween party is planned for Friday, Oct.
27.
“We also focus
more on South Indian food, like biryani,”
Singh said, referring to the mixed rice dish that is
a staple in South Asia. He described the menu as "Indian fusion."
A ribbon cutting
is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 4:30 p.m.
