The upcoming opening of Georgia
Jalivay’s new business, Indiya’s Consignment Boutique, will bring her full
circle.
“I did retail sales for 25
years. When I was fresh out of high school I sold clothes, then later GMC
trucks and cars, all sorts of things,” said Jalivay. “After all the sales, I
went and worked for the state for a while. But now I’m retired and wanted to go
back to my first love, which is sales and people.”
Indiya’s Consignment Boutique
will be located at 3069 S. Dirksen Parkway in the Capital City Shopping Center.
In addition to taking items on consignment, the store will offer new and gently
used women’s clothing, purses, jewelry, shoes and accessories.
Jalivay said she plans to
focus on the brick-and-mortar store at first, but will eventually sell products
online as well. Her daughter will help her with the business and her
granddaughter, who is the store’s namesake, also plans to take part.
“She’s 10, and she thinks
she’s got it all under control,” said Jalivay. “She told me, ‘Grandma, I want
to have a sale for my birthday, since it’s my store.’”
A pop-up sale will be held
June 22, and an open house to officially open the new store is scheduled for
Friday, July 26. The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon
cutting at noon that day.
