Dabble Springfield, a do-it-yourself arts and crafts studio that brought a new concept to the capital city last year, is now expanding to a larger space.

Sisters Ashley Striplin and Amanda Terry launched their new venture in March 2023 with a location at Sixth Street and North Grand Avenue. On Jan. 10, the business will relocate to 1704 Sangamon Ave., in a strip center across from Sangamon Center North Shopping Center.

“It is a larger space, about 1,300 square feet,” said Striplin. “We are going to have more comfortable seating for our guests as well as a break area for our employees. It’s also better visibility and better parking.”

The studio offers a variety of projects including acrylic painting, fairy gardens, terrariums, beads and resins. “We provide all the materials, do the clean up and provide opportunities for socialization,” said Striplin. “We have people who are experienced in each craft on hand.

“We’re looking into the idea of adding glass etching to our regular walk-in mediums,” she said. “That would be especially good for wedding parties or bachelorette parties.”

While all ages are welcome, there are child-free times from 7-9 p.m. on weekdays and 7-10 p.m. on weekends. Participants are welcome to bring their own snacks and beverages.

Dabble Springfield is open Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12-9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 12-10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday are by appointment only.
