The owners of Hilltop Nursery in Sherman are acquiring the Pool Center of Springfield in a deal that will close April 1.
Jordan Powell, who owns Hilltop along with his wife, Megan, said they had been looking for opportunities to get into the pool industry to complement Hilltop’s garden center and landscape design and installation services.
“We wanted to be a one-stop shop for the customer,” Powell said. “If they want a pool put in but they want some landscaping to go along with it, we can do all those things.”
The Powells are buying the Pool Center from Ed Osman, who has been repairing pools since 1995 and is preparing for retirement. Powell said they started talking with Osman about a potential acquisition last year.
The Pool Center, located at 3740 Wabash Ave., offers repair and maintenance services for swimming pools and spas, including closing and opening pools for the season. It is also a retailer for spas and pool equipment and supplies.
Powell said they plan to expand the Pool Center’s inventory and add pool installation to its offerings.
“We’re going to update the showroom and bring in more products — spas and tubs and things like that,” Powell said.
The Powells purchased Hilltop Nursery, located at 4739 South Williamsville Road, in 2020. In addition to the garden center, they also operate Clean Cut Lawn Care and sister company Premier Outdoor Living, which specializes in softscapes, hardscapes, landscape lighting, paver walkways and patios.
Powell said they plan to hold a grand opening at the Pool Center to celebrate the new ownership later this spring after the deal officially closes.
