ABC Supply, a national distributor of building materials, will be moving to the former International Trucks building at 401 S. Dirksen Parkway in Springfield. The company has been located at 1900 East Moffat since 1995, when it was known as West Roofing.
“ABC Supply bought out West Roofing in 2004, and now we’re the largest wholesale roofing distributor in the country,” said Mick Palazzolo, branch manager. “Springfield is one of the original stores; now there are 700 locations across the country.”
While the company has been located on Moffat Avenue for many years, Palazzolo said the location is not ideal. “We’re kind of hidden back here, and the new location will have better access off the interstate for freight coming in.”
At 23,000 square feet, the South Dirksen location is actually slightly smaller than the current building, but Palazzolo said it will be a better use of space. “Our showroom is going to be about four to five times bigger than what we have now,” he said. “Plus, the outside space for storage is about three times larger than what we have to work with today.”
The move will take place the first week of October, and Palazzolo said the plan is to reopen on Monday, Oct. 8.
