Illinois Innovation Network and the UIS Innovation Hub

The Citizens Club of Springfield will hold a policy breakfast on Friday, May 10, on the topic “Illinois Innovation Network and the UIS Innovation Hub.” Speakers include Dr. Susan Koch, chancellor of UIS; Bruce Sommer, UIS director of economic development and innovation; Dr. Kenneith Kriz, UIS distinguished professor of public administration; Dr. Keenan Dungey, UIS vice chancellor for research and institutional effectiveness; and Katie Davison, executive director of Innovate Springfield.

This is an opportunity to learn about and provide input into University of Illinois Springfield’s newest collaborative endeavors to catalyze innovation and economic growth, both in Springfield and throughout the state.

The UI - Springfield Innovation Center, to be located in downtown Springfield, will be the first hub in the Illinois Innovation Network (IIN), a system of connected university-community-industry-based hubs throughout the state that will work together to drive innovation, economic development and workforce development across Illinois utilizing a combination of research, public-private partnerships, entrepreneurship and workforce training programs. The Discovery Partners Institute (DPI), a central hub of the IIN, is a purpose-driven, collaborative research institute focused on building prosperity and growing the state's workforce by creating solutions to grand challenges.

The program will be held from 8-9 a.m. at the Hoogland Center for the Arts with a coffee reception beginning at 7:30 a.m.
