The Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln has elected three new members to join its board of directors in 2020. Kent Massie, Robert Mulch and Mark Staley will each serve four-year terms as directors.
Massie is a senior landscape architect and planner at the consulting firm of Massie Massie & Associates in Springfield. He worked as a landscape architect in the Chicago area and western Illinois prior to coming to the Illinois Department of Conservation (now Natural Resources) where he developed master plans for state historic sites and state parks. Massie volunteers in many community environmental, historic preservation and arts organizations including Abraham Lincoln Memorial Garden, New Salem Lincoln League and the recently organized Sangamon River Alliance. Kent’s partner in business and life is Sue Massie, and they have one daughter, Anna. Mulch graduated from Rush Medical School in Chicago and spent his entire professional career in Hillsboro, retiring in 2017 after 36 years of practice. His spouse, Barbara, was also a practicing physician in internal medicine, and the couple founded Hillsboro Medical Center with Dr. Walter Williams in 1980, which subsequently merged with Springfield Clinic in 1989. Mulch and his wife have two sons, who are both married, and two granddaughters.
Staley grew up in Decatur, graduated from Illinois State and earned an MBA from Keller Graduate
School of Management and a master’s of sports administration at Xavier. He previously worked as a trust administrator at N.B.D. Bank in Wheaton before working in the public relations department for the Cincinnati Reds. He presently is a general partner for SB Partners, which specializes in private equity and other alternative investments. In addition, Mark has served on several boards and is an emeritus trustee at Millikin University. He currently lives in Springfield with his wife, Julie, and two children, Alex and Lucas.
“The current board and staff of the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln are thrilled to welcome Kent, Bob and Mark to our board of directors,” said Roseanne Stone, chair of the board of directors. “All three are valuable assets to our community and can propel us as we continue our mission to connect people who care with causes that matter.”
They join fellow Community Foundation board members Roseanne Stone, Tricia Nelson Becker, Jen DeJong, Jane Denes, Wendi Wills El-Amin, Jennifer Schoats Flack, Allen Grosboll, Cynthia Lamar and Bruce Thompson.
