The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications to fill two positions in light of upcoming retirements of longtime employees. Lisa Schafer, vice president of operations, and David Earhart, vice president – member services, have both announced their plans to retire during the first quarter of 2027.
Schafer will retire after more than 32 years of service to the The Chamber, while Earhart will conclude a tenure of more than 23 years.
An announcement of the upcoming retirements noted: “The Chamber has benefited tremendously from Lisa and David’s leadership, dedication, and institutional knowledge. Over the years, there is virtually no Chamber program, event, or initiative they have not played a role in developing, supporting, or advancing. Their contributions have helped shape The Chamber into the organization it is today.”
The Chamber will begin an immediate search for their successors and intends to have the new team members in place by Jan. 1, allowing them to work alongside Schaefer and Earhart throughout most, if not all, of the first quarter. The Chamber said this overlap will provide an important opportunity to transfer their extensive knowledge and experience while ensuring a smooth transition for members, staff and community partners.
