What led you to your current career? I started my career as a licensed financial adviser and gained invaluable personal growth and experience. My skill set seemed more conducive to deep analytical work, and after working in an accounting role for several years, I transitioned to the role of commercial credit analyst with UCB, which led me to my current position.

What obstacles have you been able to overcome on your career path? Shifting career paths is inherently challenging, but ultimately my experience in multiple roles within the finance and banking industries has added to my professional strength, knowledge and character.

What do you wish your younger self had known when you started on this path? The most invaluable commodity known to man is time. Work/life balance is important and can be more elusive than one expects.

What has been your greatest professional achievement to date? Promotion to senior vice president at United Community Bank.

Are there any events of the past year that have affected you and how so? My wife and I were blessed with the birth of our firstborn son, J.R., who is now 9-months old.

What's the best purchase under $100 you've made in the last six months? My wireless, noise-cancelling headphones. Listening to classical music is essential for deep focus when reviewing credit analyses.
