The owners of the former RTD Motorsports building at 2430 N. Dirksen Parkway in Springfield are now considering turning the property into a multi-unit retail center. The Jackson Family Limited Partnership, based out of Decatur, previously bought out the RTD Motorsports dealership and in 2016 they purchased a nearby building at 3230 Atlanta Drive, which was formerly Slumberland Furniture. World of Powersports is now at that location, along with additional dealerships in Decatur and Peoria.
The North Dirksen property has been on the market since April 2017, and listing agent Jim Skeeters with ReMax Professionals says there has been interest, but nothing has materialized. We were originally looking for a single tenant in the RTD building, so now were going to the city for plans to make a strip center out of it for multiple tenants, he explained.
Skeeters said they have been working with Evan Lloyd Architects on preliminary plans for the nearly 12,000 square foot building and could accommodate anywhere from one to six tenants, depending on how much space is needed. The configuration of the building would also allow for a drive up window at each end, if required. Skeeters said the lease rate would be negotiated based on the amount of space and build out required for the tenant. The entire building could also be purchased and is currently listed for sale at $1,175,000.
The Jackson family is vested in our community and theyll work with a company to put them in that building, said Skeeters. Were actively searching.
