Located near the intersection of Wabash Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard, Feast Buffet offers an expansive, all-you-can-eat dining experience featuring a mix of Asian and American cuisines. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant appears to be a popular destination for those looking for variety at an affordable price. The entrance fee is $11.99 for lunch (until 3:30 p.m.) and $15.99 for dinner, with drinks running $2.49 (beer available for an additional cost).
The first impression upon entering Feast Buffet is one of space and variety. The restaurant features an open dining area with ample seating, ensuring that even during peak hours customers can find a spot relatively quickly. The interior design is simple yet functional with bright lighting and neatly arranged buffet stations. One notable feature is the adjoining game room. Some patrons might find it entertaining while others might view it as a potential distraction, depending on seating arrangements. The day we visited this section was closed.
While the decor isn't particularly fancy, it serves its purpose well. The space is clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable dining experience. The noise level seemed a bit high, but that is to be expected in a buffet-style establishment.
Feast Buffet boasts an extensive selection of food including traditional Chinese dishes, sushi, American comfort food and a Mongolian grill station. Here's a breakdown of key food categories:
Asian cuisine
One of the main highlights of the buffet is its selection of Asian dishes. From classic General Tso's chicken to pepper beef, the flavors are familiar and satisfying. The lo mein and various chicken options were well-prepared and, despite a lengthy buffet line, looked appetizing. The potstickers were nicely done as were the egg rolls, although we would have appreciated it if Chinese mustard had been available. There were three soups available, including hot and sour. Given the many options at Feast Buffet, it would be easy to fill up just on this portion of the buffet, so diners would be well-advised to hold back a little.
Sushi bar
For sushi lovers, the buffet provides a decent selection of rolls that were well-identified. No sashimi options were available on our visit. While not at the level of a dedicated sushi restaurant, the quality is on par with Feast Buffet's competitors. We particularly appreciated the seaweed salad and the large bowl of wasabi.
Mongolian grill
The Mongolian barbecue station allows guests to customize their stir-fried dishes by selecting preferred ingredients and sauces (hibachi-style, Mongolian-style, General Tso's or teriyaki). The station could benefit from a wider selection of vegetables and proteins. Our protein options were beef, chicken and sausage; eggs and seafood would have elevated the experience. Also, it would be great to have the option to throw together combinations to create a custom sauce.
American and comfort food
For those who prefer more familiar fare, Feast Buffet offers a variety of American-style dishes, including chicken, fries and pizza. There's also a salad bar where all of the ingredients looked fresh and crisp. This caters well to families with young children.
Dessert station
No buffet experience is complete without a dessert station, and Feast Buffet delivers in this department. Guests will enjoy a large variety of sweets and fruits. Admittedly, we didn't spend much time in this section, having eaten our fill with savory dishes.
The staff were attentive, promptly clearing plates and refilling drinks. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient, ensuring that tables remained tidy and guests had what they needed.
Cleanliness is obviously a top priority at any buffet, and Feast Buffet does a commendable job of maintaining hygiene. The food stations are kept well-stocked and appeared fresh, while the dining area is regularly cleaned.
Feast Buffet is a solid choice for those looking for variety and value in an all-you-can-eat setting. The restaurant offers a diverse selection of dishes, ranging from Asian cuisine to American classics, ensuring that everyone in a group can find thing they enjoy. The sushi bar and Mongolian grill add unique elements to the buffet experience, even if they could be expanded upon.
Feast Buffet is a comfortable setting with friendly service and a range of choices make it a worthwhile dining destination for families or large groups. While it may not be the most gourmet experience, it provides a well-rounded buffet experience that will keep customers coming back for more.
